You might be thinking that an expensive piece of jewelry, perfume or a new handbag would do it, but not for my wife. She’s the kind who’d rather a dozen Snickers bars over a dozen roses on Valentines. So I knew exactly what to get her. Believe it or not, this 40 plus woman loves playing video games. Whether it’s Guitar Hero, Wii or old school Nintendo, she absolutely enjoys them. So when I came across the Optoma PT105, which is known for its exceptional gaming projection, I decided that would be my gift to her.

Optoma PT105 reviewThere were a few factors that drew me to this projector such as the 854×480 native resolution (perfect for big screens), the 75 ANSI Lumens that increase the amount of brightness 50 times more than previous models, an HDMI connector which enables a multitude of different output sources, the LED light source with a life span of 20,000 hours of use, and it’s compact and lightweight design. The Optoma PT105 measures about 7.8 by 7.8 by 3.2 inches and weighs less than 2 pounds. It’s also very portable so just in case we want to travel or visit family and friends, we can take it along with us. Lastly, for a projector with so many features, the price wasn’t bad either. I purchased mine for $210.

Set Up Was Easy

When the package arrived I opened it to make sure everything was intact. Our anniversary day was a week away so if there was anything wrong with the device I hoped it would give me plenty of time to return it and get another one. Fortunately it was in good condition and while she was at work I even gave it a test run. Smooth operation, quiet fan, clear and bright projection and the images it produced were superb. I wrapped it up and hid it under the sofa until the big day.

The day of our anniversary arrived and the first thing I did was surprise her with her gift in the morning. She was ecstatic to say the least and wanted to hook it up right away. Once the projector was all ready to go we went ahead and attached our Nintendo Wii to the unit and began playing. She second my opinion on how clear and bright the images were, and this was at 8 am in the morning. What more when we used it that night to watch a movie, the pictures was even better than before. We’ve had the Optoma PT105 now for about three weeks and so far so good. We’ve also tried it with our laptops when viewing online videos and pictures, other game consoles and cable and satellite receivers. They all were great.

Do yourself a favor and give away your money. It is worth every single penny. I am completely blown away by the power of this tiny projector. I received it a few days ago, and am amazed at the quality. It really shines in a dark setting, and can throw 6 foot wide movie theatre quality images no problem.
Only day 2 of using this Optoma PT105 projector and I was impressed–Maybe because I was not expecting too much on a projector that cost less than $200.
When I was planning to get a projector, I did not want a very expensive one because I was planning to project it on a wall and I really do not have a home theater setup yet. When I saw this, I was not sure whether this would be good enough or whether I should get a more expensive one. But I must say I am pretty satisfied with the output for the money I paid . .

A Great LCD Projector With A Lens Life Of Around 6000 Hours

Advanced HD Port ready LCD ProjectorI’m usually a little wary when it comes to buying electronics manufactured by unknown or non brand name companies. I try to avoid purchasing them if I can, but the advanced HD port ready LCD projector was just to enticing to pass up. So I took the plunge and purchased this projector almost two months ago. So far here’s what I think about the electronic.

Design

Advanced HD Port ready LCDWhen the package first arrived on my doorstep I was very excited to open it up, although if I had to be honest; I wasn’t expecting much. Let’s just say the excitement came from merely receiving a package, which doesn’t happen often. I opened the box immediately and was rather pleased with the look and size of the projector. The LCD projector measures about 16x8x12 inches in dimensions and weighs a little less than 10 pounds. It comes in a sleek black color and has the look of a traditional projector; nothing too special. But I like how portable and light weight it is. It comes with a remote control and one free spare lamp just in case the other one goes out. The packaging was neat and the merchandise arrived in good condition. It also seems to be very well made and durable.

Function

When I first read about this projector I was impressed as to the numerous features that it had. It was really simple to set up and the operating instructions were pretty straightforward. This projector has so many compatibilities and can be used with the following devices:

    • TV
    • Sky
    • Xbox
    • Xbox 360
    • Play Station
    • PS2
    • PS3
    • Wii
    • PC
    • Laptop
    • Satellite or Cable
    • DVD player

 

Which are all electronic devices that I have present in my home, with the exception of a PS3. This projector also has a native resolution of 800×600 and is compatible with a 1024×768. It works exceptionally in low lit and dark rooms; the images are brighter and clearer than a lot of name brand projectors I’ve tried in the past. Although the picture isn’t as clear in the day time or in bright rooms, but that’s OK with me considering I do a lot of my movie watching and game playing at night. So it works out pretty well.

Price

Considering everything this projector can do, I say it’s priced pretty reasonably. I purchased mine for around $200 and that’s already including shipping. A Samsung projector with similar features would easily cost you double if not more. So if you’re on a budget but still need a quality LCD projector, then this is a good one.

I was really worried when I ordered this.I knew I was taking a chance of getting a useless item. I went ahead and ordered it and couldn’t be happier. For $200 I know can watch movies in my room on a 70×70 screen. With the lights out and sitting 10 feet away it looks really good.
I was skeptical at first given that the price is so low. Most reasonable projectors start around 350-400, 4 stars for quality but 5 because of the extras and the price point.

daveOverall I’m pretty satisfied with my purchase. After two months, it’s still working great just like the first day I bought it. I haven’t had to use the spare lamp yet and probably won’t for awhile considering the average lamp life is about 6000 hours.
