A Great And Affordable Gaming Projector

This past month it was my wife and my 19th wedding anniversary and I wanted to get her something really special. You might be thinking that an expensive piece of jewelry, perfume or a new handbag would do it, but not for my wife. She’s the kind who’d rather a dozen Snickers bars over a dozen roses on Valentines. So I knew exactly what to get her. Believe it or not, this 40 plus woman loves playing video games. Whether it’s Guitar Hero, Wii or old school Nintendo, she absolutely enjoys them. So when I came across the Optoma PT105, which is known for its exceptional gaming projection, I decided that would be my gift to her.

Set Up Was Easy

When the package arrived I opened it to make sure everything was intact. Our anniversary day was a week away so if there was anything wrong with the device I hoped it would give me plenty of time to return it and get another one. Fortunately it was in good condition and while she was at work I even gave it a test run. Smooth operation, quiet fan, clear and bright projection and the images it produced were superb. I wrapped it up and hid it under the sofa until the big day.

The day of our anniversary arrived and the first thing I did was surprise her with her gift in the morning. She was ecstatic to say the least and wanted to hook it up right away. Once the projector was all ready to go we went ahead and attached our Nintendo Wii to the unit and began playing. She second my opinion on how clear and bright the images were, and this was at 8 am in the morning. What more when we used it that night to watch a movie, the pictures was even better than before. We’ve had the Optoma PT105 now for about three weeks and so far so good. We’ve also tried it with our laptops when viewing online videos and pictures, other game consoles and cable and satellite receivers. They all were great.

A Great LCD Projector With A Lens Life Of Around 6000 Hours

I’m usually a little wary when it comes to buying electronics manufactured by unknown or non brand name companies. I try to avoid purchasing them if I can, but the advanced HD port ready LCD projector was just to enticing to pass up. So I took the plunge and purchased this projector almost two months ago. So far here’s what I think about the electronic.

Design

When the package first arrived on my doorstep I was very excited to open it up, although if I had to be honest; I wasn’t expecting much. Let’s just say the excitement came from merely receiving a package, which doesn’t happen often. I opened the box immediately and was rather pleased with the look and size of the projector. The LCD projector measures about 16x8x12 inches in dimensions and weighs a little less than 10 pounds. It comes in a sleek black color and has the look of a traditional projector; nothing too special. But I like how portable and light weight it is. It comes with a remote control and one free spare lamp just in case the other one goes out. The packaging was neat and the merchandise arrived in good condition. It also seems to be very well made and durable.

When I first read about this projector I was impressed as to the numerous features that it had. It was really simple to set up and the operating instructions were pretty straightforward. This projector has so many compatibilities and can be used with the following devices:

Although the picture isn’t as clear in the day time or in bright rooms, but that’s OK with me considering I do a lot of my movie watching and game playing at night. So it works out pretty well.

Considering everything this projector can do, I say it’s priced pretty reasonably. I purchased mine for around $200 and that’s already including shipping. A Samsung projector with similar features would easily cost you double if not more. So if you’re on a budget but still need a quality LCD projector, then this is a good one.

A Very Affordable 3D DLP Projector

I’ve always been a fan of Acer products and own many of them from their laptops, desktops and mobile devices. They’ve always proven to be well built, long lasting and affordable compared to more expensive brand names. And just recently I decided to purchase a projector along with a white screen for a home theater system. Set Up Was Painless And Easy

Upon setting up and hooking in my DVD/Blu-ray player it was ready to go. In addition to a DVD or Blue-ray player you can also hook up laptops and desktops. The Acer X1161P is also compatible with IBM PCs and Apple iMac or Macbooks. The operation of this projector is pretty straightforward and very comprehensible. As soon as I began watching movies using the projector, I noticed how much crisper and brighter the pictures are. The X1161P features 2500 ANSI Lumens for optimal brightness and clarity. It really enhances the overall viewing experience and is much more pleasant on the eyes. Like with any projector, the best images are produced in dim settings or dark rooms. I like to do a lot of my movie watching at night, so this works out perfectly.

Overall Design

The overall design of the Acer X1161P is very functional. It’s lightweight, easily transportable and I like the idea of how the buttons/control settings are placed on a remote control that you can slide into the projector, which acts like the control panel. And if you don’t want to keep having to stand up and change the settings, simply slide the remote control out for easier accessibility.

It’s 3D Compatible!

Another added feature of the Acer X1161P is the fact that it’s 3D compatible and produces the most outstanding 3D images I’ve ever experienced outside the theater. The color is more brilliant and you get crystal clear images. I have a lot of Blu-rays that feature 3D movies so now I can actually watch them using this projector. Since I’ve discovered its amazing 3D features, I hadn’t hesitated to throw a couple movie nights since I’ve gotten the Acer X1161P. I just had to purchase 6 extra 3D glasses for my family and friends so that everyone can join in on the experience. It’s so much fun and I always get positive reviews on how great the movie was, especially in 3D.

Save Big On Movie Tickets – You Won’t Have To Buy Them Anymore!

Let’s start with my Epson Moviemate 85 HD review. I graduated with a degree in cinematography and I was always fascinated with how people watched movies back then, and that’s with projectors. Watching movies projected onto a big white screen just gives you a different vibe. For me, it takes me back to the early 1900s when the only way you could watch a movie was to go to the theaters which had huge white screens and projectors. Even today, millions of people go to movie theaters to watch a movie, despite the fact they have DVDs and Blu-ray players at home. It’s just different, and in a good way.

Movie Theater Tickets Are Expensive!

Recently a group of friends and I started a family movie night for underprivileged kids. Every Friday, they and their parents can come and watch a movie for free. Because nowadays, it can get pretty costly to go to the movie theaters with tickets reaching as much as $10 or more per person; that plus the cost of concessions can be quiet expensive. Especially for some families that have 4 or 5 or more members, which are the kind of families that we have show up every week at our movie night. It’s literally a packed house.

Why We Got This Projector

To make the experience more authentic and similar to that of a theater, our venue is all black with red seats. We purchased a 120 inch white screen for optimal viewing so that everyone can easily view the movie. This was a cheaper alternative rather than getting stands or elevated seating. We then got the Epson Moviemate 85 HD projector. We chose this projector for many reasons over other models. For one, the black exterior of the projector coordinated with our “theater”. And it also had this boxy look that kind of resonated with old school. Secondly, this projector is perfect for projecting images onto large screens without compromising clarity or quality. It has the ability to project images 12 times larger than a 40 inch wide screen TV while still being high definition. The images are bright, crisp and really clear. It’s like watching HDTV but on a much larger scale.

We ran movie night for about three months and got wide reviews. Everyone enjoyed Epson Moviemate 85 HD, but since summer was almost over and my friends and I had to start teaching again we sadly had to end it. But it’s definitely something we’re thinking of commencing during the holiday seasons and every summer thereafter. Not only can you use Epson Moviemate 85 HD to watch movies, but it can play music from CDs or iPods, there’s also a plug in for karaoke microphones, and you can also display photos and videos from your digital camera or camcorder. A lot of people who have a home theater system usually opt for the high definition or LCD TVs. Flat screen are fine but they can be limiting in many ways. That’s why when we first decided to get a home theater system we knew right away that it would feature a projection screen and a home theater projector.

I actually prefer watching on our white screen using the projector instead of our HDTV, which has now been moved to our bedroom.

A Really Great Multimedia Projector

I just love to watch movies so when it came to buying a home theater system for our living room, there was no question about it. It was going to be an all out upgrade with the surround sound system and everything. You can’t imagine how excited we all were considering we were upgrading from a Magnavox 26 inch TV and we didn’t even have cable. That almost sounds like torture, but believe it or not we don’t watch TV. But like I mentioned before, we absolutely love movies.
